The city of Lafayette in California is a small community that is part of the San Francisco Bay area. Living in Lafayette offers a sparse suburban feel. Lafayette, in the county of Contra Costa, has an upscale atmosphere. It gets its name from Marquis de Lafayette, a prominent French military professional in the American Revolutionary War. Lafayette’s intricate history offers equally impressive sites and experiences.

The city has lots of great restaurants and cute popup shops unique to Lafayette. You can grab your morning coffee from Havana Cafe or sit down at Postino Restaurant for a relaxed weekend brunch. The restaurant also offers delicious pasta dishes. 

You will find four grocery stores within walking distance, making shopping for grocery essentials easy and comfortable. Afterward, stop by Venture Quality Goods for high-end fashion and accessories, or La Fiesta Square, a shopping mecca boasting an array of retail shops and upscale stores within steps of one another. You can buy anything from clothing and accessories to home decor here. Apart from the shopping, the facility offers excellent food, including coffee, gourmet desserts, comfort food, and pastries.

Entertainment and nature go hand in hand at the Lafayette Reservoir. Watch the picturesque waves lap against the shore or take a row boat out on the water. 
 

Things to Do

Lafayette offers lots of things to do. Attend the Art & Wine Festival, the largest annual festival in Contra Costa County. Guests here enjoy food from local restaurants and quality wines from hundreds of wineries.
 
Visit Briones Regional Park, a natural oasis close to Walnut Creek. It is an ideal park for hiking, bird watching, running, or horseback riding. There are also gorgeous flower fields that attract many birds.
